I am looking for anyone interested in subletting my apartment from February or March until the lease ends in July. I love this place but have to leave Montreal for personal reasons.
Located on the top floor of a three story house on St. Famille between Milton and Prince Arthur, the apartment is a very spacious 3 ½ with a good layout that makes each of the three main rooms (bedroom, living room, kitchen/dining space) distinct and independent of each other. The bathroom is quite large as well. There is a small balcony that looks onto St. Famille in the bedroom, and a back area with a barbecue that I share with my neighbor, who is very nice and rarely ever goes out there.
St. Famille is technically part of the McGill ghetto, but the street looks more like a traditional Plateau block, and is shared by an even mix of students and residential families. St Famille is about six blocks west from the McGill campus, and two blocks east of St. Laurent; there is a Metro supermarket a block away and a Provigo two blocks away, as well as a multitude of restaurants and take out, many open in the later hours, as well as Metro Place des Arts being about three blocks from the apartment. The location is extremely convenient, and in my opinion the apartments best selling point; you are basically in the center of Montreal, right next to the biggest bar strip in the city along with easy Metro access.
The rent is 740 without hydro, which I know seems steep to some, but the McGill Ghetto is very expensive and Ive visited many apartments on DuRocher, Hutchinson and Jeanne Mance that were charging upwards of the same price for smaller, less maintained tenement studios. Unfortunately, the layout does not lend itself to roommates, but is ideal (and very affordable) for a couple. But I can assure you that alone or as a couple, you will have more than enough space.
Also I am willing to part with most of my furniture.
I am currently back home in New York but will be back as of January 12th and can show you the apartment then.
